In the 17th century, the historian Mirza Nathan first mentioned the stone of Kadam Rasool’s Dargah in his famous book ‘Bahir-Sthanai Ghayebi’. Masum Khan Kabuli, the Afghan army chief who declared rebellion against Emperor Akbar in 1580, bought the stone from an Arab merchant with the footprints of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him). Much later, Golam Nabi, the Zamindar of Dhaka, built a single-domed dargah on a high place in Nabiganj in 1777-1778 and placed the sacred stone there. From then on, his name was Rasool. Later, in 1814, Ghulam Muhammad, son of Ghulam Nabi, built the main gate of the Dargah.

Zinda Park is located in Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj. The park is the result of the abandonment of the ‘Agrapathik Palli Samiti’ of the area.

Established by Babu Ramratan Banerjee on about 72 bighas of land in 1889, this zamindar house was renovated several times. At various times since then, the descendants of Babu Ramratan Banerjee have worked on the expansion of the front and back of the main building, digging ponds and raising the floor of the building. The Murapara Zamindar‘s house has 95 ornate rooms, a temple, a storehouse, a Kachari house, a guest house and sitting room, a stable, a spectacular dance hall and two ponds in front and behind. The huge gate at the entrance of the building already gives a hint of the vastness of the zamindar’s house. Besides, the top of the temple building is about 30 feet high.

The historic Satgram Zamindar Bari, built during the British rule, is located at Satgram in Araihazar upazila of Narayanganj district. The zamindars used to govern the area from this zamindar house. 9. Loknath Bramhachari Aashram
Sri Sri Loknath Bramhachari Ashram or Bardi Loknath Ashram is located at the west-north corner of Bardi Bazar in Sonargaon upazila, 34 km from Narayanganj district. Loknath Brahmachari was born on 31 August 1730 in the village of Kachua under the Barasat police station in the 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. He left the scriptures and took the vow of asceticism and practiced strict yoga in the Himalayas. Later he came out to the locality for the purpose of spreading knowledge among the people. After visiting various countries and reaching Sonargaon in 1863, Loknath Brahmachari established this ashram in the village of Bardi in the intense liveliness of nature. After about 22 years of worship, the great man Loknath Brahmachari breathed his last on June 1, 1890. Bardi Loknath Ashram is known as a gathering place for all people irrespective of caste, creed and creed.

10. The Taj Mahal of Bengal

14. Mary Anderson
Mary Anderson Floating Restaurant and Bar is a floating restaurant and bar run by Bangladesh Tourism Corporation on the river Buriganga in Narayanganj Sadar. Initially the name of this floating restaurant was State Yacht Mary Anderson. A 150-foot-long steam-powered ship was built at the Calcutta Shipyard in 1933 for the use of British governors in Bengal. The ship is believed to have been named after Mary Anderson, daughter of Sir John Anderson, then Governor of Bengal.

Prominent leftist politician of India and former Chief Minister of West Bengal Jyoti Basu was born on 7 July 1914 in Kolkata. His father Dr. Nisikanta Bose was a resident of Bardi Union in Sonargaon upazila of Narayanganj district. Jyoti Basu has an ancestral home in Chowdhury Para of Bardi Union, about 20 km from Dhaka. During his visit to Bangladesh in 1999, Jyoti Basu expressed his desire to convert his ancestral home into a library. This great politician, a true friend of Bengalis, passed away on January 17, 2010. To pay homage to his memory, Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced to convert the house into a library. It is currently being used as a library and tourist center.
