Dublar Char is located on the south side of the mangrove forest Sundarbans, south-west of Kotka and southeast of Hiron Point. It is familiar for the Punna Sanan, Rasmella Of Hindu religion and lots of Deer. It is an isolated island between the Kunga and Poshur river. Mainly, Durlar Char is a village of fisherman. It is a village where fishing and drying the fish is the main occupation.
In the rainy season, after catching the Hilsa fish, there were many fishermen who come from different parts of the country for drying fish. Mainly, they come from Cox’s Bazar, Chittagong, Bagerhat, Pirojpur, Khulna, Satkhira district. They started to live here for five months. Generally, they stay in Meherali Khal, Alorkol, Majher Chor, Office Kella, Narikel Bariya, Manik Khali, Chafra Khali, Shalar Chor, etc.
All the fisherman stay for four months and stay busy for drying the fish here. They sell this dry fish as wholesale in the market of Asadganj, Chittagong. By taking permission from Bagerhat District Headquarters, the fisherman go to Dublar Char. The Government receives regular revenue from the trading in the Dublar Char. Generally, the fisherman provides revenue to the Govt. with BLC (Boat License Certificate), DFC (Daily Fuel Composition), etc. Thus they got approval for entering in the Sundarban areas. On the other hand, when they finish drying the fish and go for sell, govt. takes regular revenue according to the weight of the fish.

Every year in the Bengali month of Kartik (Christian – November), the people of the island perform Rashmela and Purna Sanan among the Hindu community. Although it is said, this Rashmela has been going on for 200 years, but it is known that, in 1923, Haribandh Thakur, a Banabasi fan, named Harivajan, started the fair. Many devotees come here for Ras Purnima to celebrate the anniversary and for doing sea bath (Somudro Snan). After watching the sunrise in the Dublar park, the devotees flushed the fruit in the seawater. Some of them play musical instruments and sings the religious song (Bhojon-Kirton) and makes an amazing festive mood all around of Dublar Char.
In this traditional Rashmela, people come from different parts of the country, even foreign tourists also participate spontaneously. Many foreign tourists, famous persons as well as who lives in the city also visit this three-day fair.

How Will You Go To Dublar Char:
From Dhaka Gabtali or Sayedabad bus terminal, Sakura Paribahan, Sohag Paribahan, Meghna Paribahan, Porjotok Paribahan, etc. go to Khulna Bagerhat. Then, from Mongla port of Bagerhat, you can rent the steamer or Engine Boat that go to Dublar Char.
There is another better way from Sayedabad. You will find a direct bus for Mongla from here. It will cost you between BDT 500 to 600 for non-AC. For AC it will take BDT 900 to 1200.
Where Will You Eat At Dublar Char:
You can stay at Tourist Vessel or Engine Boat at Dublar Char. Otherwise, you will find rest houses of Nilcomal of Hironpoints, Tiger Point at Kanchikhali as well as Katka Forest Department rest house. The cost varies according to the rest houses and depending on local or foreign tourist. At Nilcomal of Hironpoints, it will cost you BDT 3000 for one room, BDT 12000 for 4 rooms. At Tiger Point of Kanchikhali, it will need for one room BDT 3000 and for 4 rooms BDT 10000. At Katka Forest Department, it will cost you BDT 2000 for one room, BDT 4000 for 2 rooms. For the foreign tourist, Nilcomal of Hironpoints will need BDT 5000 to 20000, Tiger Point at Kanchikhali BDT 5000 and 15000 as well as Kotka Forest Department BDT 5000 and 10000.
